In the beginning, there were the Archons. Seven beings made of pure energy and power. In one of their attempts to create a new world, they bestowed seven "gifts" on the creatures they created; pride, envy, wrath, greed, gluttony, lust, and sloth. Although they were intended as blessings, the humans instead let themselves be tainted by what were now known as the seven deadly sins. The tainted beings were then cast into the void known as hell, with five pure, untainted humans selected to protect the barrier between their world and the void. And while the Archons left to find another dimension, the eternal war between good and evil was started.

Two sides warring with each other for thousands of years, one carrying the power of light and goodness and the other wielding the forces of evil with the intention to corrupt the oblivious mortals caught in between. Unknowingly serving the ultimate balance in the world, neither side ever truly wins or loses.

The Academy of Demonic Arts is the home for the demons, the sinners, the untainted humans, and all those who let evil drive their intentions. They wield dark powers with the objective of destruction and corruption. They form Legions in hell and their Warlords would teach them the skills and techniques to control and wield their powers for their own personal gain.

The Forces of Good, also known as the Facultas Gigno Benevolentia (the power to bring forth benevolence; FGB) came to be in a covenant between the gifted and the spirits of the five, pure humans. More widely known as Forces of Good, it is home to witches and other beings of the good forces. These beings of light belong to their respective Covens, taught by their Guides to bring forth goodness and keep the humans untainted by the sins of evil.

The Academy of Demonic Arts
Wrestling With Demons

Origins
The denizens that roam the halls of the Academy of Demonic Arts are pure evil beings known as demons and humans that have been tainted with the sins. They mostly do not care for the rules and like to abuse the powers they possess for their own personal gain. There used to be just seven original sinners, but as they walk among the mortals and start spreading the sins, they became big enough to form Legions of their own in the depths of hell in their eternal battle with the Forces of Good.

Hierarchy & Leveling Up
- Level 7 (Leaders) - The ADA is led by Warlords. Each Warlord has their own Legion, and you must state your character's loyalty by choosing the Legion that you feel would fit your character best.

- Level 6 - There are two types of Level 6s. Ordinary level 6s and those called Dark Elders. Dark Elders are ex-Warlords or exemplary members that have proven their worth and earned themselves an invite to the leaders' forum. Upon reaching level 6 you get to create your own unique custom power.

- Level Trainee to 5 - These are the rest of the levels that you get to climb. Everyone starts from Trainee and make their way up. Being active, participating, training, fighting, and playing with your fellow members are just a few things to do to get you promoted to the next level and be awarded stronger powers.

Species & Breeds
There are eleven main species in the ADA: Sorcerers, Manipulators, Nocturnes, Summoners, Illusionists, Warlocks, Shapeshifters,, Warriors, Acolytes, Daywalkers, and Fallen Angels. Each species have more specific breeds that will help your character become even more unique. Each species and breed has their own set of predetermined powers, most of them unique to that breed only. You get to specific your breed once you have reached Level 3.

Complementary Powers
To help complete your arsenal, the ADA also offers complementary powers in the form of Talismans. Unlike your set of species/breed powers, you get to pick whichever talisman you like from the available list. And then there are Pendants, even more special additional powers that you can earn by winning tournaments or participating in the various events that are held regularly. For those who have been craving another species's power, they can choose a Codex instead of a Talisman upon promotion.

Finally, the most exclusive powers are Sekhmet's Gifts, gifts that protect you from specific magic. There are only three of these gifts in the whole ADA and only three people get to possess them at any given time. In order to get your hands on these gifts you must challenge its current owner in a fight.

The Forces of Good
Wrestling With Demons

Origins
Those affiliated with the Forces of Good, also known as the Facultas Gigno Benevolentia (FGB) were the untainted and pure humans or magical beings that are inherently good. They want to use the powers they possess for good causes; to protect the world and to rid it of evil. Descending from the five original untainted humans chosen to protect the barrier between the world and the void known as hell, they have now raised exponentially in numbers and form their own Covens, joining forces to fight the ADA.

Hierarchy & Leveling Up
- Level 7 (Leaders) - The FGB is led by Guides. Each Guide has their own Coven, and you must state your character's loyalty by choosing the Coven that you feel would fit your character best.

- Level 6 - There are two types of Level 6s. Ordinary level 6s known as Masters of the Craft and those called Guardians. Guardians are ex-Guides or exemplary members that have proven their worth and earned themselves an invite to the leaders' forum. Upon reaching level 6 you get to create your own unique custom power.

- The rest of the levels are Trainee (FGB Initiator), where everyone starts from and make their way up, Level 1 (Wiccan in Training), Level 2 (Mystic Warrior), Level 3 (High Priest/High Priestess), Level 4 (Sorcerer/Sorceress), and Level 5 (Magic Charmer). Being active, participating, training, fighting, and playing with your fellow members are just a few things to do to get you promoted to the next level and be awarded stronger powers.

Species
Most members of the FGB are known as witches. But there are also different species of good creatures, and the ones recently discovered are: Dryads, Undines, Sylphs, Vulcani, Nymphs, Electrokinetics, Slayers, Mages, Entrancers, Psions, Crusaders, Rogues, Tempests, Druids, Avatars, Virtuosi, Seraphims, Hell Scorneds, Evokers, Shamans, Spirit Walkers, Kitsunes, Selkies, Ursas, Ocaleas, Oracles, and Faeries.

Powers
Unlike in ADA, in FGB you're not bound with any set of powers. You are free to pick your powerscope from the extensive list of Power Tables, which include Base Powers and Rings that could be combined to complement each other. Additionally, the FGB also offers Bonus Rings and Bonus Weapons awarded permanently to exemplary members and temporarily to tournament/event winners.

And finally, there's also Species Unique Powers for those who chose a specific species for their characters and picked 5 out of 7 suggested powers for that species in your powerscope. The Species Unique Powers can only be obtained at Level 5 or 6.

How to Join
Wrestling With Demons

The RPG sounds intriguing. What do I do to join?
If you haven't yet, you need to register and become a member of Midnight-Shadows. It takes a minute, tops, and it's free. Once you click on the link the registration confirmation e-mail sent you, your account will be activated and you can post on the board.

Okay, I'm registered. Now what?
Make sure you've familiarized yourself with The Premise of the game, so you'll know what kind of characters would fit and what wouldn't.

Done! Now tell me about these two sides.
The two sides are ADA and FGB. Simply put, ADA are the bad guys (demons, warlocks, etc) and FGB are the good guys (witches, mages, seraphims, etc). You can read some more about them by clicking the links.

So what's the WWD forum for?
WWD stands for Wrestling With Demons, and it's the place where the ADAers and FGBers fight, the in between good and evil. Earth. A neutral place.

When can I join a side?
Whenever you make that choice. But please make sure you know what you're doing. Once you've been sorted there is no going back until you meet the requirements to change sides.

Can I join both sides?
Until you reach a Level 2 on your current side, you cannot join both sides, you need to pick ONE. Please check both sides carefully before making this choice. Either side has a forum that is solely dedicated to giving you all the information you need. We kindly ask you to take the time to make yourself familiar with how each side runs. For ADA this forum is the Sinner's Sanctuary. For FGB please refer to the Ancient Scrolls. Once you have reached level 2 in your primary alignment, then you will be able to have a character on each side.

What am I supossed to do when I decide?
Once you decide, then you will need to do 2 things:
1. Go into your user profile and click on Group Memberships on the far left side of your screen. Once in there, you will need to click on the Join Group button on the right next to the group you wish to join (FGB or ADA in this case) and then click "Join Group" on the bottom.
2. Now you will need to PM one of the group leaders to inform them that you have made the decision so they can grant you access. Group leaders are listed next to the group when you go to select.

Can I stay neutral for now?
Yes, but you must select a group in order to get posting access to the WWD; in this case you would select "WWD Neutral" instead of "FGB" or "ADA" You must also PM an administrator (listed beside the group when you select it) so they can activate you. Playing a neutral character means that you will play a mortal, someone without any magical powers.

What do I do with the Coven field in my profile?
They're meant to show which side you belong. Once you have gained access to your side, then you may update the coven field in your profile with your side and level (for all newbies this will be FGB - T or ADA - T). Please do not add anything in the coven field until you have been granted access to a side.

Now that I've picked a side, can I write my character biography?
Sure. Please use the ADA Character Form or the FGB Character Form according to your alignment. After submitting the biography you will need to wait a day or two before the character is approved by the management.
Note: Please refer to this thread for information on how biographies and RPGs are handled on Midnight-Shadows.

How do I pick my first power(s)?
For FGB, you do that when signing up. You get to pick one of the six available Trainee Powers to start out. For ADA, you need to wait until after your character biography is approved and you're automatically promoted to Level 1. After that your first base power would be your species Level 1 power, and then you get your free pick of Talisman.

Great, can I fight with those powers in WWD?
Not as a Trainee, unfortunately. FGB doesn't allow unapproved powers to be used in WWD, and your base powers only get approved once you get promoted to the next level. And ADA doesn't have Trainee powers, so you'll need to be at least a Level 1 to use powers in WWD. Please refer to each side's power system to get more information on how they work.

How do I gain levels?
That depends on which side you decided to join, each one has a unique training and different ways of promoting people to their levels. Information about those systems are to be found in the previously linked information forums.

What if down the line I want to change sides? How do I do that?
You need to be a Level 3 to do this, and there are a few steps that you must take.
1. You need to first PM your Guide/Warlord to let them know you are leaving.
2. Then you need to go to your user control panel, and select Group Memberships on the left hand side of the screen. On the bottom of the screen you can click the option to leave the side you wish to leave.
3. To join the other side, now you must go back in and select the group you wish to add and PM the leader of that group. (See joining a side, above)

So who are these leaders I'm supposed to contact for more information and administration stuff?
Please see the names listed beside the Managers field for ADA and FGB.
